This week on The Better Dad Show we continue reading the book “Better Dads, Stronger Sons”, by Rick Johnson. Chapter 6 is about Making a Noble Man.
This episode we continue reading the book “Better Dads, Stronger Sons”, by Rick Johnson (affiliate link). That will take up season 1 of the show, and if that goes well, we will continue to read other books, and explore other content to help us become better Dads.
Last week I asked for some feedback on skills to be teaching our sons. This was some of the feedback:
- Resilience
- Money Management
- Survival skills
- Coping with loss
- Conflict resolution
- How to make the perfect cup of coffee
- Woodworking and metal working
- Overcoming adversity
- Planning
This actually ties in really well with the topic for this chapter of the Better Dads, Stronger Sons book, “Making a Noble Man”.
Questions:
- Make a list of character traits you want your son to have. Discuss with other men why these traits are important in general and to you in particular. How can you help instill these traits in your son?
- Think of the best example you’ve witnessed of manly behaviour and discuss it with your son.
- Tell your son what you think makes a man. Ask him what character traits he things are manly.
